A Wake-Up Call for Africa: Red Sead Roundtable's Response to Horn Review’s Misguided Praise of Ethiopia

Once again, we’re seeing a media push that attempts to position Ethiopia as Africa’s “best chance” and a nation consistently on the “right side of history.” But for those who are truly paying attention, this reeks of yet another annual rollout of Western-aligned propaganda designed to distract and destabilize.

Let’s set the record straight:

1. Ethiopia Is Not a Beacon of Stability

How can the author claim Ethiopia is Africa’s best hope while ignoring the active civil wars erupting within the country right now? The federal government continues to clash with multiple regions:

  • Tigray is back in conflict with the federal government, and parts of the region are under the control of rival factions.

  • Amhara is in chaos with the rise of the Fano militia and counterattacks from federal forces.

  • Oromia may have signed a peace deal, but the violence hasn’t stopped.

This is not the image of unity or strength. This is internal collapse—fueled and exacerbated by foreign-backed interference.

2. The Real History Is in Eritrea

Let’s not fall for the revisionist history that constantly tries to fold Eritrea’s ancient glory into “Ethiopia’s history.” Eritrea was home to Adulis, the ancient Red Sea port; DʿMT and Punt before Axum even existed. And we are the guardians of Ge’ez, the sacred script older than anything in so-called Ethiopian tradition.

The Kingdom of Axum was not born in what is today called Ethiopia—it was built by the ancestors of present-day Eritreans. When the truth about ancient history comes to light, it becomes clear that the myth of Ethiopia’s ancient supremacy is built on layers of appropriation.

3. Proxy Games & Distractions

Every time these kinds of articles are pushed, what follows somewhere in Africa is a proxy war, civil unrest, or violent division. We’ve seen the pattern for decades. The same puppet states are used to divide and distract us while Western powers tighten their grip.

Now they’re going as far as to label leaders like Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso as enemies of the U.S.—why? Because he refuses to bow. That should tell us everything we need to know about the agenda behind this “Ethiopia is Africa’s best hope” rhetoric.

4. Wake Up, Africa. Seriously.

We must call this out every time. Ethiopia’s current government cannot even control its own regions, let alone lead a continent. And the constant whitewashing of its instability while demonizing genuinely sovereign leaders is intentional.

This isn’t analysis—it’s distraction.

Stay vigilant. Share truth. Don’t let slick narratives and hollow praises turn you against your brothers and sisters who are fighting for actual liberation.
